    Good question. The difference between white and sweet potateos is that sweet potatoes have more fiber and the fiber lowers the glycemic index. That is why white bread shoots your blood-sugar up fast while whole wheat doesn’t. Fiber aids with digestion and makes you feel full. Eat some pancakes/waffles with fake maple syrup and an hour later you might be starving. East buckwheat pancakes with fruit and you will feel full longer.

    This was wonderful explanation of what the glycemic index is.
    It might be worth mentioning that the sugar in fruit is fructose and (high) fructose is also in a can of soda, but there is a difference in how the two affect ones glycemic index and insulin levels.

    Actually, commiting to and staying with “regular exercise” is allegedly harder to do than quitting nicotine (or even heroin)…..95% of the people in the USA are basically, like sea sponges, “sessile”.

    @vctrfs Governments like to blame the true producers “evil, uncompassionate capitalists”. Truth is, the Nortel (Government supported monopoly), Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac (Government forced them to lend money to the poor). They are either Government backed monopoly, or half-nationalized business)

    Then they find someone to blames. And create more stimulus package and policies that push the countries further into debts, big-governments, and ultimately tyranny.

    @vctrfs so there is no such thing as “oh there is a recession, so let stop doing business and stop finding job and just ask the government to give us stimulus money” Anywhere, anytime, true producers will always find ways to increase and create values that the people really need and generate true wealth and employments through that. Then the government come and siege the wealth through tax, policy, monopoly (Ironic), legistration, inflation (Cause by paper money), and propaganda

    @vctrfs Sheeples don’t know where recession come from, and rely on government to do something to save them, thus escalate the problems. The government created recession after recession thru its policy driven economy. They borrow heavily from the Federal Reserve and prints out paper money. So business who doesn’t have money making ability is able to borrow their way to create a bubble. Bubbles add up to create a national/global scale bubble, and then babble burst.

I think the “I don’t eat because I have no money” diet plan is better than your $20 health fitness tofu shake. If your doing a business plan, please make sure to add in when your going to put the “out of business sign”.     I was doing it to see what people (potential clients for health business) are watching videos like this one and try to find out the kind of words they use, and to write a copy-writing sales letter that targets this market.

    But carb vs carb. Carb from watermelon release glucose into your blood faster than other carb from other lower gl food.

    Low gl can be very sweet too. It’s just not releasing as much and as quickly blood sugar into the blood as the high gl food does

    @delvamar As long as the fruits you are eating aren’t high in Glycemic index enough to trigger your insulin, then you are not getting fat.
    Insulin causes your cells to convert glucose in your blood into fat. That’s how people get fat.
    And after the blood sugar is gone, you will feel hungry again and eat more insulin triggering foods. That’s how you get fat.
    So fruits aren’t equal to fat. Even tho they are sweet

    Really great video :) Just one question: why are sweet potatoes low glycemic and white potatoes high glycemic? Sweet potatoes taste sweet, it’s a wonder that they are on the low glycemic list.

    wow thanks so much to this vid. I have a severe sugar addiction. i eat candy like all day long and my coworkers make fun of me and call me candy girl. Anyway i am ready to try this out and completly kick my sugar addiction. i don’t even care for food anymore i just eat hard candy.

    ive been meaning to try the GI diet for years. Now seems like good time. I know you can lose weight well and I think being more attuned to what you eat is better than just trying to avoid and ignore what you take in . I really want to know now. And I love white bread but I have to give it up!

    skim milk is ok to drink? i thought it didn’t have enough fat in it to balance out the sugar content. i was told whole milk is the healthiest. also, i’ve heard that the fat reduced fat items is replaced with unnatural things harmful to our bodies… is this true? what are your thoughts?
